What the heck!

Okay, so I have these goals super important to me…I know I need to do them or I really want to do them but I don’t get to it and feel even more awful than before. What is wrong with me? What am I so afraid of?

Guess what! Your are not alone, we all have these same dilemmas and find we do nothing at all in place of what is needed to be done. I’ve been there and I can tell you there is hope! Sometimes I feel like I am the Master Mama Obstacle Overcomer day after day facing challenges all the time that keep me from working towards my goals. It can feel so defeating and hopeless, but once realize life is in constant movement and movement causes change, good change and hard change these fears don’t own you anymore. You and I are the same, battling internal fears on a constant basis, and have the ability to make these priorities become realities!

So why are you not moving forward with certain goals or activities that are important to you?

Fear…

Yep, we have all these negative images reeling through our minds of what’s going to happen and end up dooming ourselves into thinking about the “what-ifs” before we even take the first step. The next thing we know we are paralyzed and the doing becomes a thought that slips away like our first cup of coffee in the morning (if you’re a coffee drinker). Nothing happens at all because we we talk ourselves out of it “No, it’s okay”,”I don’t have the time”,”I don’t know where to start” “I’ll do it when I’m ready” “I just need to do ____first”. These of course are excuses and excuses are always plentiful than the reasons.

Let’s look at what leads you to these feelings of nervous, anger, sad or discomfort. What are those triggers? What is happening when you feel this way? Honestly, we’ve had some type of experience or know someone who has similar to what we need to do and end up fearing history will repeat itself . If the history was an undesirable experience our “selves” will do everything imaginable to keep it happening again…this is our ego at play and the ego feeds on fear keeping you from doing the right thing.

Instead of avoiding the issue, we are going to comfort it. Putting these thoughts on paper takes away their “damage” power and the anxiety starts to fade. So, let’s start out by listing the “What if’s”. Yep, grab that piece of paper and pen and start writing. Create 3 columns 1)What’s the worst thing that could happen? 2)What’s the best thing that could happen? 3) What’s more likely to happen?

Don’t let out any detail. Seriously write it all down, the good, the bad, the extreme for each one! Then I want you to look at it and ask yourself…can I survive that? If the worst case scenario came to fruition, if that’s what happened is it still worth why I want to do it? Is it still worth that feeling I get or that in the result of making it happen? No matter what is it still worth it?

Now, my question to you is Can you survive that worst-case scenario?

Think about this for a moment, because really you can but you have to decide that on your own.  Maybe it would take a day to overcome, what if it took two days or even a month but you overcame it and it still gave you the end result that you wanted. Take time to reflect, chat with a loving friend and your path will reveal itself to you!

Our ego likes familiarity and the feeling of separateness. It uses fears to keep you in the known and fear the unknown…but life is a constant unknown. it’s designed to create change, growth and love. Excitement and adventure. Before you know it these obstacles you fear become another stepping stone within your path or greatness and wisdom.
